Join Hamilton is Home for a mayoral candidates meeting focused on one of the most pressing issues facing our city: housing and homelessness.

The event will bring together several mayoral candidates Andrea Horwath, Keanin Loomis, and Scarlett Gillespie to discuss their plans and priorities for housing and homelessness in Hamilton.

With 2,037 individuals currently experiencing homelessness, 6,642 households on Hamilton’s affordable housing waiting list, and 37% of renters paying unaffordable rents, according to City data, the need for action is urgent.

This meeting is an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their housing platforms and priorities — and to help Hamilton residents make informed choices before casting their ballots on October 26.

Hamilton is Home is a coalition of the city's most experienced non-profit affordable housing providers: CityHousing Hamilton, Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes, Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, Indwell, Kiwanis Homes, Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing, Victoria Park Community Homes, and YWCA Hamilton. Our coalition unites housing providers and community partners to pursue land, funding, planning, advocacy and policy solutions to create 5,000 affordable homes by 2030. Our vision is a Hamilton where everyone has a secure, dignified home, rooted in equity and justice.
